goal & impact

In an effort to foster cross-border partnerships, expand research capabilities, and engage diverse stakeholders, California Sea Grant and the Climate Science Alliance produced a strategic report identifying key opportunities and actionable strategies that integrate scientific research, traditional knowledge, and innovative practices to support resilient coastal communities and ecosystems. To effectively communicate the report information, they needed to format it in an accessible, professional, and pleasing printed document in both English and Spanish.

The strategic report is now accessible to the public on the Climate Science Alliance website where it has been accessed over 180 times since its publication. The report has contributed to shared climate science knowledge through citation in various other works including the upcoming Fifth California Climate Change Assessment.

my role

Under my capacity as Digital Designer (a full time Climate Science Alliance team member), I led and executed the report design from concept to finalized document. This involved meeting frequently with stakeholders from both Climate Science Alliance and California Sea Grant; developing a visual direction for the report including an accessible color palette, typography, and design style; designing infographics, data visualizations, and icons; and executing the report design first in English then, after implementing final edits from all stakeholders, adapting the layout for the Spanish version.
